Thankful for Storytime

Our fall storytime sessions will end the week of November 25.  It's hard to believe the ten week session is over and the holidays will be upon us.

Next week Mrs. Stanley will share books with a fall theme including apples and leaves.  After that it's Thanksgiving week and of course the focus will be on food.

We are thankful for all our storytime friends and families.  Remember your registrations carry over when we begin a new winter session in 2016.

Toddler Playtime

The library will host another session of Toddler Playtime on Friday, November 20, from 10:30 - 11:30 p.m. in the Storytime Room.  Toddlers and their adults will take part in a craft activity.  Bring along a plastic container such as a small jar or bottle that can be easily held in a small hand.  Enjoy fun activities and toys as toddlers and their adults take over the room.  Meet your friends at Playtime!

Holiday Storytime

Plan now on attending our special Holiday Family Storytime.

Pick the session that works best for you: Tuesday, December 8, at 6:30 p.m. or Wednesday, December 9 at 11:15 a.m.

No registration required.  Join us as we share a special shadow rendition of The Polar Express and other books that will keep you chugging along and on track to a great holiday season.

Election Results

All the storytime votes were carefully counted and the results are in.  Everyone voted for their favorite storybook character and Curious George along with Dora the Explorer tied for first place.

It was no surprise when the voting results came in for everyone's favorite library.  It was unanimous and Amherst Public Library once again went uncontended as the people's favorite. Probably because of the friendly staff and great kids department.

SelectReads comes to Amherst

Amherst Public Library will be offering patrons a new service beginning in January.  SelectReads is a patron driven newsletter that you can subscribe to where you choose the content.

Choose to sign up for new books, follow certain authors, and get updates on library events. More information will be available soon but watch for updates on our homepage.

A Book a Day on Tumblebooks

Start your reading now with the TumbleBook of the Day.   Each day we will feature a new TumbleBook that you can read right from your browser. Nothing to download, ever.

Did you know TumbleBooks also has graphic novels, videos, games and a complete selection of classic novels from authors like H.G. Wells, Mark Twain, and F. Scott Fitzgerald?  When your student needs to read the complete Romeo and Juliet remember TumbleBooks also has the complete works of William Shakespeare.  A good think to know the night before the assignment is due and the library is closed.  TumbleBooks are always available.
