The History of Medications

Visit the Amherst Public Library on Thursday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m. to learn about the history and the “dark side” of prescription medications, including their side effects, rising costs, and scandals. From the very first pharmaceutical over-the-counter accessible drug — Bayer Aspirin in 1898 — to today’s sophisticated pharmaceuticals, Tom Strong will discuss the evolution of drugs and how medication has dramatically altered the treatment of disease. No registration is required. For more information, call the library at (440)988-4230.
